Back Up Note - THE ONLY SURE PROTECTION AGAINST DATA LOSS IS A GOOD BACK UP SYSTEM.
A TAPE BACK UP SYSTEM or A 'ZIP' TYPE DRIVE IS NORMALLY NOT A GOOD SYSTEM for our programs
unless you use at least 10 recording media in a rotating back up system.
The most reliable and least expensive back up system is a box of 20 floppies that you
use in a daily, rotating back up at the end of the day along with a separate back up
to a new floppy BEFORE you finalize bills each time. (In Conflict Checker, you should
make the back up after you have entered new client or connection information.) If you
follow this back up system from within our programs, you will almost always be able to
recover from a problem with a minimum of effort and data loss. We also strongly recommend
you use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with your computer. As Window's User magazine
put it:
"UPS devices are often regarded in the same way as backup devices -
overlooked until you need them... Power outages are a fact of life and,
if you work with computers long enough, you'll eventually lose data
because of one."

THE FIVE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
#1: "How do I move my program to a new computer or reinstall it after a crash?"
ANSWER: CLICK HERE to read the answer.
#2: "Does 'two Biller Codes' mean I can install BSA on two computers?"
ANSWER: No. BSA is licensed for use on one computer and may be used to track time and expenses on that one computer for up to two people or Biller Codes. If you need to track time and expenses for more than two people, you can buy a version of BSA that allows for more Biller Codes. If you need access to BSA on more than one computer, you can purchase the optional network upgrade (CLICK HERE for more on networking) or buy PORTABLE bsa (CLICK HERE for more on PORTABLE bsa).
#3: "Will BSA work on my computer/network?"
ANSWER: BSA will work on any Windows-based PC (it will run on Mac with a
Windows Emulator such as Virtual PC by Microsoft). But, DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT! Download the FREE WORKING program and try it. The free program is a 10 Biller Code version with Networking and ALL optional features enabled including the Quicken/QuickBooks Links and the PDA Link. It works FOR REAL for 35 days so you can see if you like it. So, PLEASE, try it on your system and see for yourself if it works. CLICK HERE to go to the Free Download page.
If the program works and you like it, buy it and give us the serial number from the first screen. We'll issue a password and you can keep on using a program that is already installed and working on your system.
If you can't get it to work on your system or it doesn't have the features you need, then simply delete it.
#4: "To use BSA on a network, do I install the main program on EVERY computer in our office?"
ANSWER: No. BSA is a database application (like all billing programs). This means you install BSA on ONE computer (the 'server' or 'shared drive') and the other computers in your network (the 'workstations') connect to the server to run the program. CLICK HERE for more on networking.
Some helper files are required to be installed on the work stations and that's why we freely distribute a seaBILL Work Station Installer on our Download Page. CLICK HERE to go to the Free Utility Download Page. But, again, you do NOT install the full BSA program on every computer in your network - just the 'server'.
#5: "My program's doing weird things. What do I do?"
ANSWER: This question seems difficult to answer since it has no details. It doesn't indicate which program is being used, which version of the program is in use or in what environment (network or stand alone), what is happening, who is asking, what has changed in the set up, how long the program has been in use, what has been tried to correct the unspecified problems, etc. Yet, it is a very typical question.
Surprisingly, this seemingly difficult question has a very straight forward, generic answer.
